In 1996, at 26, Shawn tried his first murder case, State of Texas v. Jarrett Mitchell. The State offered life. The jury hung. The case later resolved for 10 years. In Brazoria County, State of Texas v. Warren Castile, tried with Steve Gonzales, ended in a not-guilty verdict on a murder charge that carried life.
These cases are investigated and tried. Bond, the indictment, the medical examiner, and the eyewitnesses all get tested.
